What we will give to you
We will facilitate attendance at monthly JDB meetings. Members will receive a letter from the Chief Medical Officer highlighting the importance of being released from clinical duties for two hours a month to attend meetings, unless they are scheduled to be on call.
We will provide an educational component to meetings. To date, examples of this include:
- Yvette Oade (Chief Medical Officer) and Stuart Haines (General Manager) explaining the structure of LTHT and how trainees fit in
- Phil Ayres (Associate Medical Director/Responsible Officer) talking about how trainees can develop leadership skills during training
- Graham Johnson (Associate Medical Director for Workforce) discussing how the junior doctor contract may influence future rotas, and possible directions for the future hospital workforce
- Alison Cracknell (Lead for Patient Safety) discussing Quality Improvement at LTHT
- Anna Winfield (Patient Safety Manager) outlining management opportunities for trainees at LTHT
We will offer quality improvement and management opportunities to JDB members
We will provide experience of shadowing, or working with managers to JDB members
We will offer the opportunity to meet senior managers within the trust
We will offer members the opportunity to participate in the projects that the JDB undertakes including delivering our communications strategy (website, newsletter, Twitter and Facebook accounts)
We will offer opportunities to participate in work that may be presented at national conferences
What we would like from you
We expect members to attend monthly meetings or give apologies if they are unable to intend
We expect members to maintain good communication with the group
We expect members to gain some experience of management e.g. shadowing managers/clinical directors, attending trust meetings
We expect members to help promote quality improvement projects and training opportunities within the trust
