Synopsis: This half day course teaches theoretical and practical aspects of both lumbar puncture and diagnostic paracentesis, providing you with the knowledge and skills you need in order to safely prepare for these procedures.
Target Audience: CT1 and CT2 and clinicians likely to be performing these procedures.

 The aim of this course is to provide you with the knowledge and skills you need in order to safely prepare for LP and Diagnostic Paracentesis.

The programme includes:

  • Lectures & practical demonstrations
  • The opportunity to practice on a clinical skills manikin, whilst being supervised by experienced faculty members
  • An assessment to generate a simulated direct observation of practical skills assessment (DOPS).
  • The opportunity for further practice & discussion

Additional Information In order to make the most of the half day course we ask if you could spend some time reviewing and completing the pre-course materials (questionnaire & quiz) on our Virtual Learning Enviroment (VLE). Login details for the VLE will be forwarded to you approx. two weeks prior to the course by the course administrator.

Once you have attended the course you will need to complete the post-course materials in order to request a DOP and download your attendance certificate.

The course slides will be available for you to view once the course has been completed.
Cancellation Policy IMPORTANT INFORMATION - CANCELLATION POLICY
In the event you need to cancel your place on this course, the following terms and conditions apply:

  • If you have notified us at least 30 days prior to the commencement date of the course, your course fees will be returned minus a £10.00 administration fee. If you have received any course materials these must be returned prior to any refund.
  • Cancellation of your place within 30 days will result in a loss of all fees. However, if there is another course available, you may be able to transfer, but an additional £10.00 administration fee will be incurred.
